Welcome to Feed My Wanderlust, a website dedicated to my Travelogue and landscape photography portfolio. This site features a curated selection of my photographs that are available for purchase as limited edition fine art prints. The travelogue highlights quarterly articles reflecting my year in travel; shorter pieces suggesting my Pacific Northwest roots; my thoughts on where to go next and where to eat now, and images that inspire me and bring me in. Rest assured, the content will always be current and reflective of what is good, now.
What angle will these posts and recommendations take? Here are a few tidbits about me. I am almost forty, married, and have two small children. I have lived in Seattle most of my life. I am a criminal defense attorney, but a couple of years ago I took over the role as CEO of my family. I am passionate about travel, photography, and cooking (I have a small business baking and selling French macarons). I love to eat, always know the latest restaurant, and am known for ordering for the table. I throw great dinner parties (so I am told) where I spend all week planning the menu and all day cooking the feast. I am by all accounts, a “jack of all trades.”
What kind of a traveler are these characteristics indicative of? I love to fly business, but usually fly coach. I spring for the five star luxury hotel when it's worth it (i.e. Le Sirenuse has a vintage Riva for its guests). I love a good boutique country hotel that gets everything right. Hostels are for youths. I love a good beach or pool party where I can relive my 20s. When we travel I obsess about where we will eat each and every meal. We often rent a car and pride ourselves on being comfortable driving the most rural of European roads. I like exploring cities, but prefer rural escapes or exotic, out of the way adventures. Beautiful beaches and bathing suits are a minor obsession. I love fashion but I am not a shopper. I won’t buy anything abroad unless it is something I can’t get at home. I prefer small museums and galleries to the grand dames. I refuse to stand in line to visit an historical or religious site. I seek remote, out-of-the-way experiences, and prefer to skip the tourist traps. I like to blend in. When my friends ask me for recommendations, I love sharing my thoughts and ideas – even if I haven’t been to the destination they are interested in – because I research their trip as if it were my own. This is what I love.
I have traveled all over the world, and am happiest when planning my next adventure. After researching our next trip, I realized that I am ever the expert when it comes to our destination. It was in that moment, that I finally decided to create this website, not because I thought that anyone would necessarily be interested in my art or my thoughts, but because I needed an outlet to record my travels and my research, and to share my photographs. I decided to write this blog to feed my wanderlust. I hope that when you read about my journeys you will feel transported and inspired to experience more when you travel and to share.
